For the next 20 days, we’ll take a look at 20 drivers who we expect to break out in the 2020 racing season. Check out all of our 20 in ’20 posts right here!

WHO: NHRA Top Fuel driver, John Force Racing

2019 RESULTS: 8th, Top Fuel, 2379 points; 1 win, 1 final round appearance

WHY HE’S ON THE LIST: Joining one of the NHRA’s most legendary teams as a rookie is a tall order for any driver, but Prock didn’t just settle in with John Force Racing—he also earned the sport’s Road to the Future Award as its top rookie. The son of Jimmy Prock, tuner for 2019 Funny Car champion and JFR mainstay Robert Hight, became just the 10th driver in NHRA history to win as a rookie when he took down Doug Kalitta in the finals from Pacific Raceways, and the 13th rookie to qualify for the Countdown to the Championship.

But after wrapping up the championship eighth in points, Prock is hungry for more as a sophomore. Teammate Brittany Force was in the thick of the title hunt as the Countdown inched closer to its conclusion, and has been back-to-back champion Steve Torrence’s most regular competition over the past few years. Prock has the equipment under him to mount a challenge for the top spot, and winning as a rookie is a huge confidence booster—now, how quickly will he put lessons learned as a rookie to use to move further up the point standings in 2020?
