WHO: Dakar SSV driver #409, Red Bull Off-Road Junior Team
2019 RESULTS: 41st, Dakar SxS, 75:12:44
8th, Stadium Super Trucks, 114 points; 6 starts, 1 win, 2 podiums
WHY HE’S ON THE LIST: Hildebrand’s promising 2019 Stadium Super Trucks season, which saw him take his first career SST victory at Circuit of the Americas, was cut short after just six races. But the Californian upstart still got to tour the world with series founder Robby Gordon, debuting at Dakar in a UTV and doing SST demo runs in China, and on top of that, he landed himself one of the most coveted sponsorships in action motorsports—a deal with Red Bull.
That sponsorship deal will take Hildebrand back to Dakar in 2020 with a new vehicle and a new race outfit. Hildebrand joins Seth Quintero and Mitch Guthrie Jr. on the new Red Bull Off-Road Junior Team, a new venture that will pit the trio of Americans against the best off-road racers in the world in events from Dakar to Morocco and the Silk Way Rally. It’s the kind of opportunity that almost any driver could only dream of, and with a year of experience already under his belt, Hildebrand will be looking to make a good impression as Dakar moves to Saudi Arabia for the first time.
