For the next 20 days, we’ll take a look at 20 drivers who we expect to break out in the 2020 racing season. Check out all of our 20 in ’20 posts right here!

WHO: Supercross/Pro Motocross 450 rider #94, Honda

2019 RESULTS: 4th, 450SX, 319 points; 17 starts, 6 podiums
2nd, 450MX, 463 points; 12 events, 3 wins, 7 podiums, 5 moto wins

WHY HE’S ON THE LIST: How does a two-time Pro Motocross 450 champion and Monster Energy Cup winner land on the “breakout” list for 2020? By being healthy for the first time in a long time. Roczen’s well-documented injury woes since January 2017 have cost him the better part of the past three years of racing, both indoor and outdoor. 2019 was his first time running both full Supercross and Pro Motocross seasons in three years, and the German started both seasons strong but would eventually fade, with the return to a total schedule of 29 race events likely playing a role.

This time around, there are no excuses. Roczen has his mojo back, and if you don’t buy that, you weren’t watching him dominate Red Bull Straight Rhythm on Jeremy McGrath’s old bike. The Honda squad is ready to go behind him for the next three years thanks to the new contract they awarded Roczen at the end of the last Supercross season. All the ingredients are there; now, it’s time to put them together.
