It was a battle of the Fiestas in the 2019 American Rally Association season opener at Sno*Drift, but in the end, it was the Fetela Rally Team on top.
Piotr Fetela and Dominik Jozwiak won their second career Sno*Drift this weekend after winning nine of the 10 stages on Saturday. They inherited the lead from McKenna Motorsport when Barry McKenna and Leon Jordan’s M-Sport built Fiesta R5 dropped out of the race due to transmission issues. Fetela and Jozwiak have now won five events in the past 12 months, taking wins last year at Rally in the 100 Acre Wood, Southern Ohio Forest Rally, Sno*Drift Summer Rally, and Show-Me Rally.
A pair of Subarus completed the overall podium, as O.D.D. Racing’s Cameron Steely and Preston Osborn and Hi Camp Racing’s Travis Nease and Matt James finished second and third overall and first and second in the Limited 4WD class. Blind Deer Rallysport’s Jimmy Pelizzari and Kate Stevens topped the Regional standings, posting the fourth-best overall time.
The 2019 ARA National Rally Championship continues on March 15-16 with Rally in the 100 Acre Wood, which will feature the return of such top drivers as David Higgins, Pat Moro, Jeff Seehorn, and many more expected. For Regional competitors, however, ARA is back in action this weekend with the inaugural Missouri Ozark Rally, also put on by the 100 Acre Wood Performance Rally Group.
